That’s right!! We saw ASIAN SNOW. I’m from Ohio, so to me snow is no big deal. I’m used to being in it, driving in it and having snowball fights. BUT it was my friend Jamin’s first time seeing snow! (He’s from Australia) As soon as he stepped outside, our friend Bret (from Michigan) chucked a snowball at him. Immediate snowball fight. It was great! Snow is very rare here, even for the top of a mountain. Taiwan is generally pretty hot, so I did not expect to see any snow here. Our first day on the mountain, we did not see any. The next day, we woke up to a message about snow at the top so we got ready ASAP and went for it! Since it’s not very common, the news showed up, people were traveling up to see it and everyone was having photo shoots. (See my snow post in the photo section for ours.) I drove up the mountain because I’m acquainted with hazardous conditions. Once we got close, we were stopped. There was a road block, with people checking for chains around tires. This is supposed to help with traction, which is helpful for the Taiwanese because most of them do not know how to drive in snow. The chains were expensive so we parked and walked the rest of the way, which was only about a half hour. We built little snowmen and had so many snowball fights on the way up. The views were super beautiful and it felt great to play in the snow again. One thing I loved was the little snowmen people added to their windshields! I had never seen that before but I think it’s a great idea and I plan on starting the trend in Ohio. We added one to our van!
